Asst. Prof. dr. sc. Maja Banović, MD, is a gynecology and obstetrics specialist and an infertility specialist at University Hospital Centre Zagreb. She is an assistant professor at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine in the Department for Gynecology and Obstetrics. In 2016, she defended her PhD thesis “The value of HPV-HR DNA testing during the follow-up after the treatment of preinvasive disease of cervix uteri” in the field of Biomedicine and Health: clinical medical sciences at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine.
Dr. Banović had education in human reproduction, IVF, and endoscopic surgery at university centers in Belgium (Leuven, Brussels). At Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, one of the leading healthcare centers in the UK, she had an internship through an Erasmus grant for teaching staff.
She participated in numerous symposia and congresses regarding human reproduction. She is the coordinator of the Gynecology and Obstetrics course at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine for Medical Studies in English. At the same University, she lectures various courses on Specialist postgraduate study: Gynecology and Obstetrics, Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics, School Medicine and Adolescence, and Family Medicine. On Biomedicine and Health postgraduate study, she lectures on the course Human reproduction. Dr. Banović is the secretary of the Croatian Society for gynecological endocrinology and human reproduction of the Croatian Medical Association. She is chosen as a Croatian representative on The Board of Directors of the European Society of Contraception and Reproductive Health (ESCRH). She authored numerous scientific articles and book chapters and lectured at various professional meetings and scientific conferences.
