Dr. Karlo Tomičić was born in Nova Gradiška. He completed primary school and grammar school in Slavonski Brod. After graduating from the School of Medicine in Zagreb in 2005, he completed his internship and civilian military service at “Dr. Josip Benčević” General Hospital in Slavonski Brod, where his duties included working at the Department of Anaesthesiology, Resuscitation and Intensive Care. He regularly applies the knowledge he gained at the Department of Anaesthesiology in his daily work as a reproductive gynaecologist when performing outpatient surgeries.
He completed his specialty training in gynaecology and obstetrics, as well as subspecialty training in human reproduction, at the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, University Hospital Centre Zagreb, where he worked from 2007 to 2020. Minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy, hysteroscopy) and the treatment of endometriosis are what sparked his interest in infertility treatment. During that period, he started collaborating with the BetaPlus Center team.
From 2021 to 2023, he worked at the SIMS IVF clinic in Ireland, where he continued to gain experience in the treatment of infertility. Due to the unique characteristics of the island population and the increased incidence of genetic diseases (e.g. cystic fibrosis), he performed testicular biopsies (TESE) and the planning of MAR procedures with genetic analysis of embryonic cells (PGT-A, PGT-SR and PGT-M). Ireland’s liberal legislation allowed him to gain experience in medically assisted reproduction procedures that are not routinely performed in Croatia. He returned to Croatia earlier than planned following the opening of MIA Polyclinic, a member of the Pronatal Group, in Rijeka at the beginning of 2024, where Dr. Tomičić, as the person responsible for MAR, was part of the team which drove the launch of the first private IVF clinic in this part of Croatia.
Since April 2025, Dr. Tomičić has been a member of the BetaPlus Center team in Zagreb, where he continues to care for patients struggling with infertility.
